Gertrude
Table,chair,tray,jelly mould,book,twine
2008
Gertrude is a contraption that looks a bit like a wooden drilling device, or time machine. Its function, however,
remains ambiguous, and though it looks
spontaneous, like a child's plaything, its
components are all pieces of antique
Victorian and Edwardian furniture, which suggests a more deliberate process of construction.
Rupert White, Art Cornwall, 2008.
Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Newlyn Gallery, Transitions, curated by Sovay Berriman, with artist Karen De Franco, Matt Houlding, Oliver Sutherland, Kitty Wingate, Katie Holton and Patrick Lowry.
